Our featured speaker Dr. John Thornton blends real world experience with rigorous academic research. Dr. Thornton is an Associate Professor of Finance at Kent State University. He joined Kent State University in 1999 after earning his Ph.D. from Georgia State University.
Prior to earning his Ph.D., Dr. Thornton worked for 18 years for Georgia Federal Bank, FSB. He performed several functions for the bank including Mortgage Loan Officer, Director of Systems and Procedures, and Assistant to the President. His final position was Senior Vice President in charge of Product Development and Research. Dr. Thornton's academic research interests include the effect of managerial incentives on firms' risk management decisions, corporate finance issues in Korea , and financial institution issues. His research has appeared in Journal of Finance, Journal of Corporate Finance, Journal of Banking and Finance, Financial Review, Pacific-Basin Finance Journal, Global Finance Journal, Financial Services Review, Journal o f Multinational Financial Management and Journal of Investing. We will be handing out the remaining copies of the book New Age of Innovation at the 9/18 event.
